The HB series is the result of years of research and fabrication of custom flashlights for Group 5 Engineering clients.

Each HB flashlight is machined from a solid block of 7075 aluminum, and protected by a rugged Military Type 3 hard anodized finish. The finish is available in both black or “clear”, a gold tinged, natural color of the 7075 aluminum. The rugged anodized armor is more commonly used to protect the exposed structural parts of carrier based jet fighter aircraft from abrasion and salt spray.

As superlative as the workmanship of the HB may be, its real purpose is to produce bright light. To this end, Group 5 Engineering contracted Academy Award winning lighting engineer Marlow Pichel to produce a bespoke state-of-the-art reflector for the HB. The electro-formed reflector with its highly polished surface and Pyrex lens, extracts and focuses every lumen of energy from the 50W D2S HID lamp. With a color temperature of 5700ºK, the HB throws an intense beam of near daylight quality illumination.

With simplicity comes reliability. The HB is assembled into a monolith of machined, structural alloy. The switch is a simple twist type, incorporated into the back cap of the light. With no moving parts or openings, the switch is supremely reliable, and impervious to dirt or liquid.

The HB comes in two types, the HB-1 and HB-2.

HB-1:

The HB-1 has a 3” diameter lens and a smooth neck above the transformer housing. The image above illustrates the beam strength at 400 yards.

HB-2:

Identical to the HB-1, but fitted with a 4.5” reflector for a greater range. The HB-2 is notable for its machined cooling fins around the neck, large head, and searchlight style beam. The image above illustrates the beam strength at 400 yards.
